I am looking for someone who has access to the Copper Handbook (by Horace Stevens) for 1911, 1912, 1921, 1922. I am interested in finding some data found within these records. If you can help please let me know. Thanks in advance.
Does anybody have the copper production figures for the Trimountain Mine from 1925 through closure in 1930? I found figures covering the years up to 1925 ( Trimountain and its Copper Mines by Clarence T Monette). Having been a resident of Trimountain from 1931 through 1945 ( My dad was a miner in the Trimountain and Champion Mines)I frequently enter your very fine web site. Everytime I enter, I'm overwhelmed by a feeling of nostalgia. I hope you keep up your good work.
These are the production totals I have for Trimountain for the period you are interested in. 1926 2,177,416 1927 2,354,808 1928 1,275,515 1929 1,408,589 1930 542,649 Total 7,759,077 There is a 100 lb difference in the total I haven't been able to track down, but I hope this helps. Dan Leskinen
Dan I had given up on getting an answer for my querry which was back in 2002. I was pleasantly surprised to find your answer to my question when I read the messages in the Discussion Board today. Adding your figures I get 7,758,977 or a difference of 100 pounds. Adding the 7,758,977 to the 141,040,592 mined through 1925 (USGS Professional Paper No. 144 by Butler and Burbank) gives a total of 148,799,569 pounds. Amazing, as this is only one percent of all the copper mined in the Keweenaw Peninsula!! Thank you so very much for taking the time to respond to my question.
I am part of a team preparing a display at a Nova Scotia museum and need similar production data for the Colonial Copper Mine at Cape D'Or NS. Operating period was circa 1904-1908. Does anyone know where we might view or get copies of certain pages from the Handbook? Thanks for your help! Dick McAllister
