A few photo subjects this month, both from the collection of Joan Shiroda Norton. Joan was born and raised in the Hurontown Firehouse, but that's getting ahead of myself. Pictured above are 4 employee's (John Pakisjarvi-Paavo at the controls) of the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul RR at Kelso Junction in 1915. Kelso Junction is just west of Channing in Iron County and was a junction passed by the Copper Range Limited on the way to the Copper Country (The Copper Country Route). As I started to say Joan was born and living for many years in the Hurontown Firehouse and she also passes along a photo of the Nash Firetruck owned by Copper Range, which was passed on to the Hurontown FD, this photo showing the day it arrived at the firehouse. If you recall from a few years back George Lasecki is the current owner and is working to restore her. The color shots are George's and the B/W is Joan's (See the Discussion Board for February 2003). Thanks so much to Joan for sharing these photos with us.
