Nice side view, looking north, of Champion #3 in Painesdale. A dump truck waits for poor rock at the side of the shafthouse and the Copper Range Painesdale depot can be seen in the distance. Taken during the spring of 1959. (Kevin Musser Collection)
Kevin- How often did the railroad serve the mine? Did they pick the loaded cars and leave a string of empties, having the mine load them? Or did the railroad spot the cars while they were being loaded? Thanks, Todd Monroe
11-13 cars could be loaded with the Rockhouse full. The champion mine was loaded by the road engine.
